Site-Readiness Checklist

The right checklist helps a builder identify which questions need answers before the home design gets too far ahead.

Your Working Checklist

Use this before the first serious design conversation.

You do not need every answer. Mark what you know and use the gaps to guide the right questions.

  2. Recorded access, easements, driveway length, width, and grade

  3. Boundary survey, topography, soils, geotechnical, and environmental information

  4. Available power and expected extension or transformer needs

  5. Municipal water/sewer or well and septic feasibility

  6. Trees, clearing, wildfire exposure, defensible space, and seasonal access

  7. Slope, rock, drainage, snow storage, and retaining requirements

  8. Views, solar orientation, prevailing weather, privacy, and neighboring uses

  9. Potential home, garage, shop, guest space, and outdoor-living locations

  10. Permit path, utility lead times, site-work sequencing, and realistic contingency
